FAQs

How do I book a tattoo appointment?

To enquire about a tattoo appointment please email michellemtattoos@gmail.com with your idea, body placement, a rough idea of size and reference pictures or photographs. If you are interested in a cover up, please send a clear, well-lit photograph of what you would like to have covered. I cannot take on all cover up work but am happy to discuss options with you if this is the case. An idea of dates/days you would be available to be tattooed and budget (if you have one) would also be helpful. If your idea is something I am not able to take on at the time of your request, I will let you know and suggest an alternative artist if possible.

Do I need to pay a deposit to book?

A non-refundable £100 deposit will be required to hold a date, this is not for a design. The deposit will roll on to any continuation sessions and will be deducted from the final tattoo session. Deposit can be paid by PayPal or bank transfer. A deposit can be transferred to another date if a week of notice is given.

However, deposits for appointments made through 1st July to 31st August and 1st December to 31st January are non transferable and non refundable, meaning that another deposit would have to be paid before an appointment can be rebooked. Please bear this is mind if booking for these months. December and August can be very busy (and expensive) months to stay in Edinburgh so please check your transport and hotel options early to avoid any issues.

When can I see my design?

In most cases a design will be ready for your appointment date and any small changes can usually be made on the day of the appointment if needed.
If you completely change your idea and do not inform me at least the week before your appointment date, your appointment may have to be rescheduled to allow me time to work on a new design.

Where are you based?

In Edinburgh, Scotland! Currently at Thistle & The Fable, located inside The Edinburgh Printmakers building; 2 Gilmore Park, Edinburgh EH3 9FN.
The studio is appointment only, all tattoo appointments and consultations must be prearranged with over email.

Can my friend/family member/partner come with me while I am tattooed?

It’s always a good idea to check before bringing someone to an appointment with you. I would recommend you come to the appointment alone but please mention this in an email if you need to bring someone for help or support during your tattoo and the studio will accommodate as best we can.

Will you be tattooing at a guest spot/convention in a city near me?

Possibly! I have travelled throughout the UK, Europe and as far as New Zealand to tattoo.

If you would like to know about my future travel plans subscribe to the monthly newsletter for updates.

How can I pay for my tattoo?

Current payment methods are cash, PayPal or bank transfer and details can be provided on request. The studio does not have a card reader.

Can I buy an original piece of artwork or print?

Yes! The shop has original paintings and prints available and will be updated with new works regularly.

Does the tattoo studio have any Covid-19 restrictions in place?

The studio does not currently require the use of a face mask although it would be polite to wear one if you have a minor cold (I would do the same if unwell). If you are unwell in the days leading up to your appointment, please inform me so that we can decide whether or not to rearrange the appointment. It is always advisable to get tattooed when you are in good health. The studio is thoroughly cleaned on a daily basis and this has always been the case.
