Festive wishes…

I realise I’ve not posted since October, wow has it been a busy couple of months.

As I write today, I’m ill, struck down in the prime of lime (you know the reference) by some lurgy, testing negative for COVID though so that’s something. So far I’ve had to rearrange 4 appointments since Sunday, not ideal so close to the festive period but it can’t be helped. Although I am climbing the walls through frustration and inactivity when I’m not napping on the sofa.

November was an absolute whirlwind, I started taking new bookings again (yay!) and going to New Zealand came around very quickly. I am so out of practice travelling for work! But everything went as well as it could have gone. It will always be one of my favourite places to visit and I think I will visit as often as I can for the rest of my life. I had a great time tattooing at the New Zealand Tattoo and Art Festival, working with my friends Dana and Dani and tattooing Jo and Brigida who I’d not seen since 2019! So much to catch up on. It’s the best tattoo convention to work for many reasons; the entertainment is separate from the tattooing area, the supplies packs are awesome, the people there are lovely and booths have more than enough space for us to comfortably work because the organisers haven’t squeezed as many tattoo artists, traders and the entertainment all into the same area. It’s just a really lovely show to work and I’m so grateful I’ve managed to be apart of it. I had a week of travels and a catch up with a friend after the convention and it went by so quickly it’s almost like I was never there at all, but isn’t that always the way? I returned from the trip feeling really refreshed, calmer and ready to tackle the mountain of things that are upcoming.

However, December has been a strange month and with a week still to go who knows what might still happen. Coming back to a freezing cold Scotland was not the best, although it did feel more festive than spring time New Zealand. But snow and train strikes led to cancellations which after a few weeks travelling was also not ideal. This month has been quiet for me tattoo wise, cancellations and illness, I am more than ready for the new year.

As for marathon training, I’m injured! So yeah, December has really tried to break my spirit. It’s a foot injury, the podiatrist has said it could be one of three things, tendonitis, a bruise or a stress fracture. I took the news calmly but have been having bouts of sadness that I can’t finish my training as I would have hoped. The action plan is, rest! I’m allowed to use an exercise bike, it’s been suggested I spend the same length of time on the bike that I would running to keep my fitness up, with being ill this week that’s been impossible. It’s two weeks until marathon so as soon as I feel better I’ll be back to cycling and hoping that whatever the injury is, it’s healed enough to at least try to run on marathon day. Send me healing vibes!

As of the 1st January I’ll be away from the studio again until 14th, it’s Disney World marathon time, quite the entrance into 2023. As with before I went to NZ, if you need to cancel or rearrange an appointment during this time please mark your emails are URGENT.

There is already so much coming up in the first part of 2023, including exciting changes at the studio, can’t wait to tell you all about it in the new year. And I’ll be updating the website over the next couple of weeks, I’ve not had the time or the energy since returning from NZ.

For now, I hope you get to enjoy the festive period, whatever you’re celebrating and I wish you all the best of 2023, have a good one 🎉
